Earth Day at Cypress Furniture…

Jim Berrens & Barbara Sloss
The Open House at Cypress Furniture was a HUGE success! We all had a great time and we learned something too. Wow! It was very nice to see some familiar faces and some new ones too.
Jim Berrens, Owner of Cypress Furniture, and Barbara Sloos, Outside Sales, did a wonderful job on educating us on how their product is made and how to better work with their factory.
Barbara explained how to and what goes into customizing a piece. Choose your arm style, leg style, length, width, depth and anything else you can imagine. “If you can dream it, we can build it.” says Barbara. A great way to start is to have a style already in mind and then tweak it from there. Details, details, details. Barbara was all about the details: Add buttons, pleats, welt, flange and anything else, just make it your own. A one of a kind piece for you and only you.
Jim talked about how the product was made and what made the product “Earth” friendly. From the wood used for the frame to the jute webbing used for the foundation, the Cypress product is as close to being fully GREEN as it possibly can be. He talked about what goes into making an upholstered piece and how Cypress’s construction differs from others. They don’t use plywood or cardboard as filler or as part of the structure, unlike some of their competitors.
I really felt everyone was genuinely interested in the topic. There were a lot of good questions asked and I think we all learned some things. You can see by the picture, titled “The Girls” to the right, there were smiling faces.
